As President of Maya Romanoff, Michael proudly brings a fresh vision and renewed purpose to the company. He believes the work they do should honor both individual designers and the broader interior design community. “Creating beautiful spaces is a deeply meaningful act,” says Michael. “At Maya Romanoff, we are genuinely honored to be part of that creative journey with our clients.”
The son of Joyce Romanoff, Michael has been connected to the company—and to founder Maya Romanoff—since childhood. He began working in various roles at the company while n high school. These early experiences, combined with over a decade of leadership within the company and a lifelong immersion in the design world, helped shape his strong sense of purpose and direction for the brand.
Michael's connection to Maya Romanoff extended beyond the professional. It was Maya who first introduced him to Zen Buddhism, sparking a lasting interest in the Healing Arts. While earning his Bachelor's degree in Marketing from Columbia College, Michael also pursued his passion for wellness, later opening a spa in a Chicago hotel and running a private practice for seven years.
Drawn by the opportunity to continue doing good through design, Michael rejoined Maya Romanoff, bringing with him a unique blend of spiritual insight and business acumen. His personal spiritual practices remain integral to his leadership, and he is also actively involved in several Tibetan Buddhist organizations.
In 2017, Michael earned his MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, further equipping him to lead Maya Romanoff into its next chapter.
