As Executive Vice President and Head of Manufacturing and Product Development at Maya Romanoff, David Berkowitz leads the design, development, and production of the company’s celebrated wallcovering collections. A key force in shaping and sustaining the brand’s creative direction, David combines a deep respect for the company’s heritage with a forward-thinking approach to innovation and craftsmanship.
Having worked closely with his father-in-law and founder Maya Romanoff, David developed a rich understanding of the brand’s artistic and technical foundations. He draws on this experience to guide product development from concept through production, ensuring every initiative reflects the company’s commitment to extraordinary design and quality.
Based in the company’s Chicago headquarters and studio, David oversees a talented team of artisans and designers and manages partnerships with mills and suppliers across the U.S. and abroad. He is deeply committed to upholding Maya Romanoff’s high standards for quality, ethical labor practices, and environmentally responsible production.
David holds degrees in Business, with a focus in Marketing and Advertising, and in Commercial Design. Before joining Maya Romanoff in 2002, he spent a decade in Chicago’s advertising industry, leading creative strategy and execution for major agencies and their clients. His background in design, marketing, and leadership continues to be a driving force behind MAYA’s growth and innovation.
David is married to Andrea, the eldest daughter of Joyce Romanoff, and together they’ve raised three amazing children.
