Ideas for our products come from everywhere…from our clients, our employees and artisans, and inspiration from the materials themselves. We allow materials to speak to us and guide us to our result; we do not cover them up with heavy colors or finishes.
From early on, our founder, Maya, instilled in every member a deep respect for material balanced with a lawless sense of play. This philosophy is firmly planted in every collection we produce. Maya Romanoff has spent the last 50+ years pioneering and redefining wallcovering—creating cutting-edge designs with dyes, glass beads, gold leaf, sea shells, wood and stitching in our Chicago Studio. Today, Maya Romanoff is the largest manufacturer of handcrafted wallcovering in the United States.
We work to ensure every wallcovering installs flawlessly, meets fire retardant, durability and cleaning requirements, and is at a price point commensurate with its value. Every one of our materials is inspected and graded by our Quality Control team. We carefully package our wallcoverings so they arrive thousands of miles away looking exactly the same as when they leave our shipping dock.

Shimmering Burlap™, features multiple layers of Mica, hand-flocked onto painted burlap, creating textural light play of fibers and minerals.
Beadazzled™ Murals are custom created by digitally printing imagery on the base material, then hand-applying genuine, clear glass beads on top for a true one-of-a-kind result!
Braided Hemp™, fiber is produced with lokta paper—processed, braided and created entirely by hand-weaving.
Meditations Ohm™, made from lokta paper with flecks of mica, is handcrafted by artisans who twirl the fiber while it is still wet with chopsticks.
Ajiro Sunburst™, is a hand-inlaid wood veneer, crafted with micro-thin wood on a durable paper backing, then beautifully hand-painted.
Flexi Mother of Pearl Aphrodite™, is a handcrafted, flexible veneer of layered Capiz shells. The Golden Pearl color is perfectly baked to perfection.
Weathered Metals™, is inspired by one of Maya’s original designs. The hand-rolled paper is blended with metallic pigments to create a subtle striation.
