Get Inspired by These 8 Gorgeous Interior Design Instagrammers
August 25 2016
While we will always love browsing our favorite shelter magazines, there's no denying that Instagram has changed the way both interior design aficionados and the industry itself shares and gathers inspiration. From behind-the-scenes shots of a top designer's latest projects, to snaps of a luxury showroom's new collection, to detail shots of hardware, textiles, and light fixtures, Instagram is now one of the most comprehensive design digests available. Not only that, but the updates and information are presented directly by some of the industry’s most influential and creative talent.
The downside, of course, is that it can be a lot harder to find these thought leaders and designers worth paying attention to on Instagram than it is to find ideas in a well-curated magazine or website. So, we did some digging through our feed to come up with a quick list of talented, stylish, and inspiring interior designers to follow on Instagram, at least in our humble opinion.
jamesthomas interiors, @jamesthomaschicago.
The Chicago-based luxury design duo showcases sneak peeks of on-going projects from Lincoln Park, to the shores of Lake Michigan, to Park City, Utah, and beyond, but we also love shots of their finds from shopping trips.
Campion Platt, @campionplatt
The best part of the author and designer’s account is the expertly curated selection of art, decor, and furniture picks he shares, along with updates on his firm’s work to restore the Audobon Island Sanctuary in Palm Beach, Florida.
Fredman Design Group, @FredmanDesignGroup
While you won’t find much in the way of behind-the-scenes here, Fredman Design Groups has one of the best Instagram accounts to follow for transitional interiors inspiration: it’s full of polished, perfectly styled home shots.
Ally Coulter, @AllyCoulter
Ally Coulter showcases a little bit of everything the design world has to offer, like scenes from her work with Fendi Casa, her stunning home, her client projects, and visits to international design trade shows.
Kendall Wilkinson Interiors, @kwilkinsonSF
In addition to press photos, candid snaps from photo shoots, and muses for her textile line with Fabricut, it’s fun to get a glimpse at designer Kendall Wilkinson’s chic and stylish personal life in California.
Elizabeth Kohn Design, @elizabethkohndesign
The New-York based designer gives dreamy glimpses of all the Big Apple and the Hamptons have to offer, from SoHo lofts, to Sagaponack farm houses, to world-class shopping, sources, and showrooms. We love this powder room snap featuring our Meditations paper.
Smith Firestone Associates, @sfadesign
The firm’s account is like a quick tutorial on all things high-end design. We especially appreciate the diversity of projects they showcase, which include dream-home worthy private residences, commercial properties like the Arizona Biltmore, and even luxury yachts.
Mitchell Channon, @mitchell_channon_design
Another fellow Chicagoan, we turn to Mitchell to keep us posted about local industry events, and we look forward to recaps of his weekly blog posts, which often feature interviews with industry heavyweights and emerging stars.
