In his role as President, Michael is excited to bring a new mission and vision to Maya Romanoff. He believes that the company’s work must celebrate and support both the individual designer’s efforts and the interior design industry as a whole. “We believe that the act of creating beautiful spaces is work of monumental importance, and at our core, all of us at Maya Romanoff are honored to be included in and part of the creative process with our customers,” says Michael.
As Joyce Romanoff’s son, Michael was part of company namesake and founder Maya Romanoff’s life from an early age, working at the company in various capacities since high school. Given these formative experiences, this higher purpose for Maya Romanoff was further evolved through more than a decade in leadership roles in the company and a lifetime in the design industry.
Having first learned about Zen Buddhism from Maya, Michael was inspired to study the Healing Arts while simultaneously pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. Upon graduation, Michael opened a spa in a Chicago hotel and ran a private practice for seven years. As the Maya Romanoff company grew over time, Michael was attracted to the positive impact their products have and saw the opportunity to continue to do good in the world through the company. Michael continues to weave his personal spiritual practices in his work at Maya Romanoff and holds leadership roles in various Tibetan Buddhist organizations.
Michael attended Columbia College where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, and in 2017 he earned his MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management
